Dear friends from the vintage, classic and historic kart enthusiasts,
Please note that an international meeting for historic karts will take place at Laval, France, on June 7th and 8th 2014. I will be the commentator of the event.
The meeting is organised by the local club ASK Laval, the sport’s national governing body (FFSA) and Retrokart. Over 50 karts from the 50’s to 1988 are already entered but you can still join the show or just come over to have a good time with us that weekend… before heading to Le Mans for the big race which takes place on the week after that?
This is for sure a rare opportunity to practice at one of the sport’s most famous circuit. Among Laval’s greatest hours of glory, let’s mention:
-Stefano Modena’s European Championship crown in 83
-The fight between Andrea Gilardi and Yvan Müller for the Junior World Cup honours in 84
-The club’s maiden World Championship organised in 85 (125cc)
-Yvan Müller’s European title in Formula K in 86
-Jan Magnussen’s stunning victory in the 87 Junior World Cup
-Manu Collard’s maiden world title and Mike Wilson’s fifth in 88
-Alessandro Piccini, 125 Formula C World Champion in 90
-Sodikart’s international successes in the early nineties with Sebastien Philippe and David Terrien
The past is rich but today, Laval remains one of the most challenging tracks and one of best French karting venues.
The event’s format consists of practice sessions – no competition, in line with the CIK regulations. An exhibition of Karts will also be presented in the paddock, in the pits and in the city of Laval on Saturday morning.
Please find attached the registration form, the event’s poster and a report published in the FFSA’s bulletin (France Auto) about the meeting and ther Laval circuit (iin French but with nice pics :-)
